Frequently Asked Questions

Product & Quality

What is an IFAK?

IFAK stands for Individual First Aid Kit. Unlike a standard first aid kit, an IFAK is designed for trauma care — controlling life-threatening bleeding, managing wounds, and supporting survival until emergency services arrive. IFAK360 kits are built around the same protocols used by paramedics, wilderness medicine providers, and search and rescue teams.

Who builds these kits?

Every IFAK360 kit is assembled by Kevin Wilson — a licensed Paramedic and Firefighter from the Pacific Northwest with 23+ years of active service, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a certified Stop The Bleed® instructor. These aren't retail-assembled kits. They're built the way a paramedic would build them, for people who want professional-grade gear without needing a medical background.

Are the components name-brand?

Yes. Every component is sourced from FDA-regulated manufacturers and arrives in original OEM packaging. You'll find trusted names like CAT tourniquet, QuikClot, and 3M Steri-Strip™ — the same products used by medical professionals in the field.

How do I know my kit components are authentic?

Every IFAK360 module bag is lot-stamped at the assembly level and traceable to a specific build session and component batch. All components are sourced directly from FDA-regulated manufacturers and arrive in original OEM packaging with lot numbers and expiration dates as indicated on individual packaging. In a market with well-documented counterfeit and quality-control problems, that paper trail is your guarantee.

We're not required to do this. We do it anyway — because you deserve to know exactly what's in your kit and when it was built.

Are the kits sterile?

Sterility is as indicated on each individual component's OEM packaging. Each module includes lot numbers and expiration dates for full accountability. Module 1 uses a non-resealable vacuum-sealed pouch by design — rip the top off and go. Modules 2, 3, and 4 use heavy-duty commercial-grade resealable chamber pouches with V-notch pull tabs to protect contents during storage and transport and allow repeated access across multi-day scenarios.

What protocols are the kits based on?

IFAK360 kits are built on a comprehensive evidence-based protocol stack including TCCC (civilian adaptation), NAEMT trauma standards, NOLS Wilderness Medicine, WFR/SOLO/WMI protocols, Stop The Bleed® principles, CDC wound care guidelines, WHO standards, and Military Prolonged Field Care (civilian adaptation). The module sequence — hemorrhage → irrigation → closure → medication/hydration — mirrors the MARCH/PAWS framework and supports delayed evacuation scenarios of 2–3 days.

Why does the packaging look so plain?

By design. Every dollar we didn't spend on decorative retail packaging went into the components inside. You're not paying for a branded box or a logo-printed pouch — you're paying for a NAR C-A-T® tourniquet, QuikClot® hemostatic gauze, and 3M Steri-Strip™ wound closure strips. The heavy-duty, commercial-grade vacuum pouches are chosen for durability, moisture resistance, and field performance — not shelf appeal. Plain packaging is a feature, not a flaw.

Ordering & Shipping

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — free shipping is included on all orders.

How long until my order ships?

Orders are typically processed and shipped within 1–3 business days. During high-volume periods, processing may take up to 5 business days. Each kit is hand-assembled and inspected before it ships — we don't cut corners on quality control.

Can I track my order?

Yes. You'll receive a tracking number via email once your order ships.

Modules & Customization

Can I buy individual modules?

Absolutely. All five modules are available individually so you can build your kit based on your specific needs and budget. Start with what matters most and add modules over time. Modules 1–4 also bundle into the Complete Kit — Module 5 — Field Endurance Kit is available as a standalone add-on.

What is Module 5 — Field Endurance Kit?

Module 5 is a standalone endurance add-on — not a trauma module. While M1–4 follow a sequential trauma care protocol, Module 5 is purpose-built for sustained endurance: blisters, dehydration, pain management, and minor wound care for anyone on their feet all day. Event staff, SAR teams, field workers — if the day runs long, Module 5 keeps you going.

Is Module 5 included in the Complete Kit?

No. Module 5 — Field Endurance Kit is sold separately and is not included in the IFAK360 Complete Kit (M1–4). It is designed to be added on based on your specific use case.

Who is Module 5 for?

Anyone on their feet all day — outdoor and backcountry adventurers, event staff and volunteer first responders, concert and public event crews, SAR teams, and professional and occupational workers. If you're gearing up or heading out for the long haul — Module 5 was built for you.

What's the difference between buying modules vs. the full kit vs. Build Your Own?

The Complete Kit contains all four core trauma and medical modules (M1–4) ready to deploy as a single system — the fastest way to get fully equipped. Individual modules let you start at your own pace and budget, adding capabilities over time. Build Your Own IFAK goes one level deeper — choose individual components from across all modules to create a fully custom loadout and resupply only exactly what you've used. All options use the same components.

Can I resupply individual components?

Yes — through our Build Your Own IFAK. Choose individual components, single modules, or any combination to resupply exactly what you've used. No need to replace an entire module when you only need one item.

HSA/FSA

Are IFAK360 products HSA/FSA eligible?

Many components in IFAK360 kits qualify as HSA/FSA eligible medical expenses. Download your itemized receipt from our HSA/FSA Reimbursement Forms page, fill in your name and order number, and submit it to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. This is a great way to use pre-tax dollars on professional-grade trauma and medical preparedness gear — especially before your annual “use it or lose it” deadline.

Medical & Safety

Do I need medical training to use these kits?

We strongly encourage taking a Stop The Bleed® course, basic first aid/CPR training, or a wilderness first aid course such as Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or those offered by NOLS, SOLO, or WMI before you ever need to use this kit. Find a Stop The Bleed® course near you at stopthebleed.org. Knowledge is the best tool you can carry.

That said, every module includes paramedic-written Instructions for Use (IFU) designed for civilians with no medical background. The modular design reduces cognitive load in a stressful situation — you open the right module for the right problem and follow the instructions. IFAK360 kits are intended to supplement — not replace — professional emergency medical care.

Are these kits used for military or tactical purposes?

Yes — as a solid foundation. The IFAK360 protocol stack includes TCCC hemorrhage control (civilian adaptation) and Military Prolonged Field Care guidelines, and the core components — NAR C-A-T® tourniquet, QuikClot® hemostatic gauze, and professional-grade wound closure — are the same ones found in military and tactical medical kits.

We don't sell dedicated tactical add-ons, but with just a few items sourced elsewhere, this kit can be built out into a full tactical IFAK. The modular design makes it easy to supplement with exactly what your mission requires without duplicating what you already have.

Returns

Can I return my kit?

All IFAK360 products are final sale once they leave our facility. This is our policy — not a regulatory requirement — and it exists for a straightforward reason: we cannot verify the integrity of components once they've left our control.

Every kit contains OEM-sealed components — gauze pads in peel pouches, medications in foil seals, syringes in blister packs — whose seal integrity and storage conditions we cannot confirm on return. Our own chamber vacuum seal on each module cannot be re-certified once it's been out of our hands. Once a kit leaves our facility, the chain of custody is broken — and we won't ship a kit we can't stand behind 100%.

Every kit is verified accurate and in working order before it ships. If something is wrong on our end, we will make it right.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Every IFAK360 kit is hand-assembled and individually inspected before it ships. We guarantee it leaves our facility correctly built, properly packaged, and in perfect condition — that's the standard we hold ourselves to on every single order.

If your order arrives damaged in transit, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and we will assist you in filing a damage claim with the shipping carrier.
